Like most "new" technology, it's always initially targeted to your rich friend. Remember when video formats and they were always expensive? Like when Bluray players came out like 10 years ago, the $600 for a PS3 was a steal as a Bluray player. CD players were also pretty pricey in the early 90's/late 80's

So I'm sure after the manufacturing costs go down, the general population will pick it up.
Yeah it's the early adopter tax

The cheapest route is probably Playstation VR if you consider it a $100 accessory to your PS4 (but if you're buying the PS4 *just* for VR then it's a big up front cost).
If you want cheap, Google Cardboard.
Went to some conferences and have seen some cool stuff people have been doing with "Mixed Reality" (ie: the spectrum between Reality and Virtual Reality, including Augmented Reality). I'd like to get my hands on a Vive or HoloLens to play around with but they're so expensive.
I do think it’s kind of creepy that they’re planning (it might already be done) on a VR version of Dead or Alive Extreme 3. It’s super pervy and rapey to make a VR version of a skimpy beach volleyball game where you can motorboat the girls the entire time they’re trying to get away from your advances.
Urg gross. DoA is pretty awful in general but that's a new low.
I like the actual fighting games, as they're pretty fun, and I do think it's awesome to kick someone off the top of a skyscraper, then drop kick them. The volleyball spinoffs are a different story. The first one was apparently a pretty decent volleyball game, but the sequels forgot to make an actual volleyball game and focused on being softcore porn.
I don't like them at all, to be honest. Maybe it's because I bought a cheap one that was around £15 but it's just not interesting enough and it gives me a headache after just 5 minutes.
